The 2 weeks (July 12-22) following our meet, our practice schedule must move back 1 1/2 hrs. This is because the City is offering Red Cross swim lessons and needs swim team to be off the deck and out of the locker-room by 9:45am. When the swim lessons are completed on July 22, we will resume our original schedule for the remainder of our season. The schedule will be as follows: 6:30am-8:30am Great Whites (Jacy’s group)6:30am – 8:00am Mako Sharks (Jessica’s group) 8:00am – 9:30am Tiger Sharks (Caleb’s group) 8:00am – 8:45am Sharkies Group A (Deniece’s earliest Novice group) 8:30am – 9:30am Spinner & Hammerhead Sharks (Aubrey’s group) 8:45am – 9:30am Sharkies Group B ( Deniece’s later Novice group) |

The club is actively recruiting new swimmers. Anyone that wants to get started with a lifelong sport is encouraged to register. A registrant needs to be water ready but does not have to know how to swim. However, he or she must be able to and want to get into the pool unassisted, be able to move away from the wall a short distance and to return safely. He/she MUST be able to follow the instructions of the coach. What is a Shark? Our members range in age from 5 to 50+ and compete in eight divisions based on age. We compete in speed swimming events at meets throughout the Kootenay Region of the British Columbia Summer Swim Association during the summer months (June to August). We are the only United States swim club to participate in Canadian swimming.
What can you expect when your children become SHARKS?
SOME BASIC FACTS
WHO? We are a private non-profit club run by a volunteer parent board. Funds are raised to pay coaching salaries, Provincial and Regional membership fees, pool fees, meet entry fees, insurance, awards, equipment, etc. through registration fees and fund-raising.
WHERE? The Colville City Pool
WHEN? The season begins in June and ends early August. Practices are held in the mornings Tuesday - Friday.
HOW MUCH? Registration for 2010 is $120 (ages 5-11) and $175 (ages 12 & up) due to additional practice time. These fees include the swimmer's assigned practice and all meet fees. There are NO additional fees. Each swimmer must provide their own cap, goggles, fins and suit. A team suit is available for purchase through our Apparel Coordinator, team suits are not mandatory. Girls however, must wear a one-piece suit. Boys tend to wear Jammers. Follow our links above to find inexpensive, quality swim wear and equipment.
FUND-RAISING is a MUST for every swim family! The average cost per swimmer is close to $310
HOW MUCH TRAVEL? Quite a bit for families who elect to go to all or most of the meets. However, we have families who only go to a few meets, while others enter only the Colville Meet. Some swimmers only participate in the workouts, taking advantage of the excellent conditioning training supervised by our fine staff.
FAMILY FUN, FITNESS, CAMARADERIE, COMPETITION, . . . . . a SPLASHINGLY GOOD TIME!!!!!

A Coaches Note: My name is Coach Jacy McEvoy and I am fairly new to the Colville area. I grew up in Moses Lake, WA and went to Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. I was a high school athlete and college athlete on scholarship. I know the importance of being a coach, team member, and a positive role model for young students and athletes. I was in Softball, Drill/Dance Team, and Swimming for many years. After high school I became a coach for two highly competitive US Swim Teams for 10 years. I swam all four years at CWU on scholarship and graduated from there with an Elementary Education degree and Special Education minor and am currently substitute teaching in the Colville School District. I am also finishing up my first year as the Head Coach for the Colville High School Cheerleading Squad. My husband and I met while swimming for Central and were married in 2000. We lived in Arlington, WA for 8 years after we were married until recently moving here October 2006. We have two children. Caylynn our daughter is 4 years old and will be a new member of the Colville Valley Swim Club this summer and our son Colbie is 3 and will hopefully join the team as well.
Coaches Expectations:
I look forward to meeting all of you!
